To celebrate its 15th Anniversary, The Twin Galaxies Intergalactic Scoreboard is pleased to announce that the 1997 Videogame Masters Tournament will be held simultaneously in dozens of locations in North America on Saturday and Sunday, April 19-20, 1997. This is the famous high-score contest which was carried in the 1984-87 editions of the Guinness Book of World Records. All classic arcade games, homegames, pinball, and a limited number of network games will be included in the competition. Since most participating arcades will feature recent games, classic players must band together in regional arcades filled with donated classic games in order to break old records. Players may bring their own copy of a game to a contest site to have their play witnessed and documented. To verify homegame scores, players must bring their game systems/ cartridges to a contest site to have their play monitored by a contest official. All classics games will be played on the difficulty settings established by Twin Galaxies in the early '80s. Settings for recent games are now being established. The results of the contest will appear in the Twin Galaxies Videogame & Pinball Book of World Records published by Sunstar Publishing LTD. The finished volume will be unveiled at the ABA Convention in Chicago on May 30. Players may assist the contest in two ways: 1. Help locate promotional-minded arcades willing to join the contest. 2. Players can bring their classic games to a contest site. Email Walter Day at wday@telegroup.com
