World Records for Sit-Ups (Abdominal Raises)

The Rules

(If you want to break a record that is published in a record book or governed by an international authority, there may be other or additional rules. See here for more information.) The following are the rules of the Book of Alternative Records:

The sit-ups have to be performed with knees always bent (at a 90-degree angle), hands behind or besides the head. Feet can be fixed or not.
In the "up" position, the elbows must touch the thighs and the body should come up to approx. 90 degrees.
In the "down position", the shoulders must touch the ground.
No abdominal frame must be used.
Two referees must count the sit-ups using a scoring sheet.
A score sheet should show the number of sit-ups for each set. It could look like:
start time: 11:14:00
reps: 10 5 5 3 = 23 at 11:17:40
reps: 5 5 0 = 33 at 11:19:55 etc.
break from 13:17 to 13:55 etc.
The times given in the score sheet should correspond to the time shown by a running clock that should be visible all the time in one of the videos. This makes the confirmation of your count much easier.
If one referee disallows a single sit-up (for example because the elbows did not touch the thighs), this sit-up does not count.
The person attempting the record can take rest breaks as often as he or she wishes, but the clock does not stop during these breaks. During the rest breaks, the record breaker can leave his/her position.
At least one of the witnesses should be a certified fitness trainer or sports referee. A video (side view) of the whole attempt should be provided.

Please note that we are very strict with the rules. For this reason, it is highly recommended to upload a video of you doing the exercise to YouTube or a similar service BEFORE the actual attempt. We can review your style and (if necessary) give recommendations for improving it such that it complies to our rules. We do not want to disappoint you AFTER the attempt.
